Here are the questions we hear most. Tap any question to see the answer, and if yours isn’t here, just email us.

Booking & pricing

Virtually everything: comfortable 3-star-plus hotels, all guided hikes, ground transportation, special excursions, and most meals. You’ll only pay separately for souvenirs, drinks, the odd meal, travel insurance, and tips.

Countries like Peru, Kenya, and Chile quote us in US dollars, so we keep those packages in US$ to protect you from a shifting exchange rate. Airfare from Canada is always priced in CA$.

Yes. Single rooms are available on a first-come, first-served basis for an additional single supplement that varies by trip. Call us for rates on your trip of interest.

We strongly recommend medical and cancellation insurance. You’re welcome to arrange your own, or we can help set it up for you.

Often, yes. We call this a “deviation,” and we’re happy to help plan an extended stay for a $100 planning fee plus any airline changes. Just get in touch and we’ll take care of the details.

On the trail

Light: easy, well-travelled trails with little climbing. Moderate: some hills and up to 500 ft of ascent, hiking boots recommended. Challenging: steeper terrain up to 3,000 ft of climbing, hiking boots required.

Between 10 and 23 km depending on the trip, with drop-out points along most routes. Every hike is optional, so you can walk as much or as little as you like each day.

Every hike is led by an experienced, first-aid and CPR certified guide, with a “sweep” guide at the back of the group so no one is left behind. Guides stay in touch by walkie-talkie throughout the day.

Absolutely. None of our trips demand professional fitness, even the challenging ones. We just recommend breaking in your boots and getting some walking in before you go.

Most days start around 9am and wrap up back at the hotel by mid-afternoon, with lunch and a few breaks built in. We meet again in the evening for a briefing and dinner around 7:30pm.

The CHH difference

Our motto says it best: hike an adventure, rest in comfort. However challenging the trail, you’ll always come home to a proper hotel room, no tents and no roughing it.

Of course. Just let us know your requirements ahead of time and we’ll take care of the rest.

Spectacular destinations, honest all-inclusive pricing, comfortable 3-star-plus hotels, and the personal attention of a small company. We also love weaving in a real taste of local culture, from a cooking class in Spain to a folklore show in Corfu.

Our guests

Hikers of every level from 24 to 84, though we tend to appeal most to guests 45 and up. Our groups are usually an even mix of couples and solo travelers.

Most trips run with 15 to 20 guests, small enough that your guide gets to know everyone by name.

Not currently. All guests must be at least 18 years old.

Our way of thanking guests who spread the word. Refer a friend who hasn’t traveled with us recently, and once they book an extended trip, you’ll receive a $100 discount on your next holiday.
